Chapter and National Scholarships
The San Diego Chapter has two scholarship programs: (1) the College Scholarship Program; and (2) the Chapter Scholarship Program.
THE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This program began in 2004. Each year, one or more scholarships are awarded to recent graduates, and graduate or undergraduate students majoring in real estate appraisal, economics, real estate, or related fields. Scholarships are awarded, primarily based on academic excellence, to students enrolled at San Diego State University (“SDSU”), the University of San Diego (“USD”), Burnham Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego (“USD/BMC”), California State University San Marcos (“CSUSM”), Point Loma Nazarene University (“PLNU”), and the University of California San Diego (“UCSD”). College Scholarship recipients are allowed to attend any or all of the San Diego Chapter’s educational offerings and/or lunch meetings free of charge for one year. Scholarships also include a cash award of $500. For more information about the College Scholarship Program, including the application, see College Scholarship.
THE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This program began in 2014. Each year, one or more scholarships are awarded to eligible Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates in the San Diego Chapter. The scholarship award consists of one complimentary Appraisal Institute course sponsored by the San Diego Chapter per scholarship recipient. For more information about the Chapter Scholarship Program, including the application, see Chapter Scholarship.
The awarding of any scholarship will be solely decided by the San Diego Chapter Board of Directors, after recommendation by the Chapter Scholarships Committee. Scholarship awards are limited to one per recipient.
Both Chapter scholarship programs are funded by the net proceeds from the annual Chapter Golf Tournament.
